Welcome National Art Honor Society and Art Guild Members!
The following sections will outline details about becoming a member of the National Art Honor Society and requirements to maintain membership.
Section 1. The Atlee High School National Art Honor Society chapter must abide by the following bylaws.
Section 2. To remain a member in good standing, a member must pay dues
Section 3. Annual dues of $10 will be collected from each member in September.
Section 4. Attendance is required at meetings to maintain membership and privileges.
Section 5. All members must participate in at least 10 hours of our Art Guild's meetings, activities, and fund raisers. Attendance is required for at least half of the all-member meetings held at Atlee High School (6 or more hours).
Section 5. All members must participate in at least 2 hours of an Art Guild sanctioned community service project. Additional service hours may be completed as individual hours outside of the society activities, which can replace up to 4 meeting hours. These requests must be submitted in writing at least two weeks prior to the service date. The service must be art-related and serve the Atlee and surrounding community. A signature of at least two sponsors is required for final approval.
Section 6. For the NAHS officers, attendance is also required at any executive meetings called outside of the regular scheduled meetings. A resignation request letter will be delivered to any member who has missed two or more all-member meetings, committee meetings or service activities.
Section 7. To graduate with NAHS honors and earn the right to wear a cord or tassel at graduation, a member must remain in good standing until the graduation date.
Section 8. Members must retain a 3.0 (B) in a regular weighted art class, as well as a 3.0 average (C) in an IB or AP class.
Section 9. Members must have and maintain at least a 2.0 (C) cumulative average in all other subjects.
Section 10. Members may remain active during such time when there are no visual arts on their class schedules as long as they fulfill all of the other requirements each year.
Section 11. In the event of an infraction of rules, a review by the sponsors will be conducted. This applies to all community laws as well as school and chapter rules.
MEMBERSHIP SELECTION:
The selection process occurs every March and all candidates must submit a completed application by the designated deadline. Supervisors and school administration will be involved in the selection process based on a review of application, grades and discipline reports. Selected students will be notified and letters of selection will be sent to parents and guardians. Students are inducted into the National Art Honor Society at an informal ceremony held in May at Atlee High School. Parents and students must understand that no student has a right to be selected for membership in a chapter of the National Art Honor Society, it is a privilege.
MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES:
o To attend at least half of the scheduled all-member Art Guild meetings and accumulate the total number of hours outlined above.
o To keep track of meeting and service hours by entering accurate information and proper documentation into the NAHS log book.
o To keep informed of service opportunities through meetings and the website.
o To regularly check email and the website to stay informed of any changes.
